Baby 101 - Understanding Your Newborn

Come explore your baby’s first few months at home during this 3-hour class. We will discuss newborn characteristics, appearance and behavior as well as bathing, diapering, comforting, bonding and the importance of early skin to skin. Sleep matters, time management, hunger cues and patterns, what to purchase and how to choose a pediatrician will also be covered. You will leave feeling more comfortable and confident with your ability to care for your newborn baby.

This class is best taken between 24-36 weeks of pregnancy.

Families that register for this class will typically register for Breastfeeding Basics, Childbirth Preparation and Infant Safety.


 

The event will be held at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center - Hummingbird Room located at 2001 High St, Denver, CO 80218.

Directions: Closest cross street: 20th Avenue and High Street. Free parking available at the hospital. It is best to park in the parking facility at 2055 High Street and enter in through the Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children which is located across the driveway. Walk in through the main entrance and the classroom can be found down the hall on the right, across from the elevators.

Please bring snacks and a water bottle, pen and paper to class.

Notification of cancellation must be received at least 7 days (not including the class date) prior to the start date of the class. If cancellation or change is requested less than 7 days (not including the class date) prior, no refund will be given. (Exceptions can be made due to early delivery of their baby or mother being in the hospital)

Baby Safe

This one session class helps prepare expectant parents and new parents for emergency situations involving infants, such as difficulty breathing, choking, seizures, dehydration and SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). Please bring a sack lunch to eat during class time as there will not be a scheduled lunch break. You will learn how to perform CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), how to "baby proof" your home, how to select and use safety equipment and how to respond to burns, cuts, bruises, head injuries, high fevers and more. Each couple will receive a copy of the Emergency Medical Treatment book that will be beneficial now and as your baby grows.

The class will be held in Meeting Room 1 at The Medical Center of Aurora located at 1501 South Potomac Street, Aurora, CO 80012. 

Enter the hospital through the main entrance doors. Classes will be held in meeting room number 1 which is located in the hallway to the left of the coffee kiosk. If you need assistance locating the room ask the concierge located in the lobby. 

Please dress in comfortable clothing and bring 2 pillows for use on the floor during breathing and relaxation exercises. Please bring a sack lunch to eat during class time.

You must cancel your registration 5 days prior to the start of class in order to receive a refund. There are no refunds once the class is in session unless you deliver your baby. If you need to cancel or change your class registration, please call us at 303-873-0630 We regret that occasionally, due to low registration, we must cancel a class. In this circumstance, we are happy to provide you with a full refund or allow you to enroll in another class. In case of bad weather, please call the hospital’s main switchboard at 303-695-2600 at least one hour before your class for possible cancellation information.

This course is for expectant parents and caregivers dedicated to putting safety first. The course will provide you with vital information on infant CPR and choking, baby proofing your home, basic first aid and child passenger safety. 

This class is $50.00 per person/couple. Only the mother-to-be needs to be be registered.

The event will be held at Sky Ridge Medical Center - Garden Level Auditorium, 10101 RidgeGate Pkwy, Lone Tree, CO 80124 at I-25 and Lincoln. 

When you arrive, please park at the main entrance to the hospital.  After entering, you may take the stairs just south of the information desk to the Garden Level Café or use the elevators. Once in the Café, please take the hallway to the right of Human Resources. This hallway leads to our Classroom, Auditorium and Administrative Boardroom.

Refunds are made on a limited basis; please call 720-225-BABY at least five days prior to the start of a class to receive a refund. If we need to cancel a class, we will notify you in advance. In the event of inclement weather, please call the hospital at 720-225-1000 at lease one hour before the class is scheduled.

This class is a one-day condensed version of the 3-week series and is an overview of the labor and birth process, options, and practical comfort techniques. A tour of the labor, birth and mom/baby areas is included.

This class will be held in the North Suburban Medical Center, located at 9191 Grant Street, Thornton, CO 80229, inside the Aspen and Spruce Conference rooms. Enter through the main doors and take the main elevator to the Basement Level. 

Please bring a snack, drink, two pillows and a blanket or mat for you comfort. There will be a short lunch break. Feel free to bring a lunch or purchase lunch in the cafeteria.

Becoming a New Dad is exciting in so many ways, but it can also be overwhelming at times. Boot Camp for New Dads is a highly successful program that prepares Men to become Fathers with confidence. This powerful workshop features veteran Dads that speak frankly about their prospective in parenting adventures.

Topics covered include: troubleshooter’s guide to crying babies, caring for new Moms, birth and bonding, the postpartum experience, and balancing family and career.

This class is best taken between 28 – 36 weeks of pregnancy.

Families that register for this class will typically register for Baby 101: Understanding Your Newborn, and Infant Safety.

There is a $40.00 fee for this class. 

Class will be held in the Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center - Dr. Jack Chang Conference Room located at 2001 North High St, Denver, CO 80205.

It is best to park in the parking facility at 2055 High Street and enter through the Rocky Mountain for Children. Go up the stairs to the second floor and turn right. The room will be straight ahead.

Breastfeeding Basics

This class will provide information that will create a strong foundation for successful breastfeeding. Breastfeeding Basics is designed to offer a safe setting to discuss breastfeeding education and concerns for both the breastfeeding woman and her partner. Participants will have a good understanding of milk production and general anatomy, positioning and latch, as well as collection and proper storage of breast milk. Identifying common problems such as plugged ducts, mastitis and increasing your milk supply will also be addressed. A list of community resources will be available to support you upon your return home.

This class is best taken between 30 – 36 weeks of pregnancy.

Families that register for this class typically register for Baby 101: Understanding Your Newborn, Childbirth Preparation, and Infant Safety.
 

The event will be held at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center - Hummingbird Room located at 2001 High St, Denver, CO 80218.

Directions: Closest cross street: 20th Avenue and High Street. Free parking available at the hospital. Participants may park in the parking garage free of charge or at the parking meters.

Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a blanket, two pillows and a water bottle to each class.

This class will be held in the Auditorium of  Rose Medical Center which is located at 4567 E. 9th Avenue, Denver, CO 80220. The Auditorium is located on the ground floor of the hospital. Please take the main elevators down one level and exit the elevators to your left and then take your first right. Turn right, then left when the hallway ends and follow signage down the hall to auditorium, which is on your right. Participants may park in the parking garage free of charge or at the parking meters. Meters are free after 6pm.

Enter the hospital through the main entrance doors. Classes will be held in meeting room number 1 which is located in the hallway to the left of the coffee kiosk. If you need assistance locating the room ask the concierge located in the lobby.

Welcome to Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center! We are excited to be sharing this amazing time in your life with you. This is a perfect opportunity for you to get to know us better. During this 45 minute tour of our labor/delivery and mom/baby guest rooms you will discover all of the accommodations we have to make your stay with us a pleasant one. We will discuss various hospital procedures, comfort measures during and after birth, how we care for you if complications arise, and how P/SL focuses on family centered care.

This tour is best taken any time after 28 weeks, and will be offered after all Childbirth Preparation Classes.

 

The event will be held at Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center - Labor And Delivery Waiting Room - 3A located at 1719 East 19th Ave, Denver, CO 80218.

Tour will begin in the waiting room on level 3, just outside Labor and Delivery. Please take the Tower A elevators to level 3. Closest Cross Street: 19th and Gilpin. Participants may park in the free underground parking garage across from the main lobby doors.

Flu restrictions are usually in place October – April. Children 14 and younger as well as adults showing signs of illness will not be allowed on the tours during flu restrictions.

If you are experiencing complications of pregnancy and anticipate your baby needing neonatal intensive care (NICU), this class is for you. We have created a unique class designed to prepare families with information during this stressful time.

The class includes information about labor & delivery, NICU, Lactation, NICU parent panel, resources, emotional wellness as well as hospital tour.
 

This class will be held at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children of Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in the Jack Chang Conference Room located at 2001 North High St., Denver, CO 80205.

Prepared Childbirth – 4 Week Series

The birth of your child is a special time and confidence begins here. Our prepared childbirth course will provide you with the knowledge to prepare for the choices you’ll make during your childbirth experience. You and your partner will learn and practice life skills from our nationally certified childbirth instructors including relaxation, effective breathing, massage, positioning, stress management and coping skills. Other subjects include the joys and challenges of pregnancy, labor and how it progresses, medical procedures, interventions, pain management and Cesarean birth. A tour of the birth place is included with the Prepared Childbirth four-week course. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring two pillows and a small blanket.

This class is $75.00 per person/couple. Only the mother-to-be needs to be be registered.

The event will be held at Sky Ridge Medical Center - Women’s Hospital Atrium Classroom, 10101 Ridge Gate Pkwy, Lone Tree, CO 80124.

Please take Sky Ridge Ave. east to our free, covered parking garage. After you exit the garage, cross the street and take the stairs to the entry doors, which are adjacent to our Spine and Total Joint Center and the Evergreen Medical Office Building. Please follow the hallway into the Women’s Hospital Lobby and stop by the Information Desk to check in.

Refunds are made on a limited basis; please call 720-225-BABY at least five days prior to the start of a class to receive a refund. If we need to cancel a class, we will notify you in advance. In the event of inclement weather, please call the hospital at 720-225-1000 at least one hour before the class is scheduled.
