Baby 101 - Understanding Your Newborn

Come explore your baby’s first few months at home during this 3-hour class. We will discuss newborn characteristics, appearance and behavior as well as bathing, diapering, comforting, bonding and the importance of early skin to skin. Sleep matters, time management, hunger cues & patterns, what to purchase and how to choose a pediatrician will also be covered. You will leave feeling more comfortable and confident with your ability to care for your newborn baby.

This class is best taken between 24-36 weeks of pregnancy.

Families that register for this class will typically register for Breastfeeding Basics, Childbirth Preparation and Infant Safety.

The cost for the class is $40.00.
 

The event will be held at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center - Hummingbird Room located at 2001 High St, Denver, CO 80218.

Directions: Closest cross street: 20th Avenue and High Street. Free parking available at the hospital. It is best to park in the parking facility at 2055 High Street and enter in through the Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children which is located across the driveway. Walk in through the main entrance and the classroom can be found down the hall on the right, across from the elevators.

Please bring snacks and a water bottle, pen and paper to class.

This call is designed for those who know they will be delivering by cesarean at P/SL. You will learn about pre-operative preparation, anesthesia, cesarean procedure and post-operative care. In this class we will practice breathing and relaxation techniques that are designed to reduce stress and improve overall pain control during your cesarean. We will also discuss the postpartum recovery period including household preparations, support systems and realistic expectations for caring for your baby. Rose chooses to keep our birthing center tours small so there is ample opportunity to ask questions and see everything in depth as well as minimizing the impact on our families on the floor. Therefore, please note that this registration is for one participant only. Additional family members are welcome; however, those visitors need to register separately.

For the health of our new Rose babies, anyone exhibiting flu-like symptoms will unfortunately not be allowed to visit the floor. Therefore, we recommend that you refrain from bringing a child or family member if he/she has flu symptoms. 

Children under the age of 18 may tour with you; however, we ask that parents be willing to step away from the tour with a child if necessary. Children who appear to be ill will not be allowed to take the tour.  Please refrain from bringing the child if he/she has flu symptoms.

A Certified Boot Camp Instructor will lead this fun, interactive class Topics include: "What kind of father will I be?"- a troubleshooter's guide to crying babies- forming a new family- dads and safety- birth and bonding- dad's toolbox- caring for your new baby- caring for new moms- and adjusting to your new role.

The class will be held in Meeting Room 1 at The Medical Center of Aurora located at 1501 South Potomac Street, Aurora, CO 80012. 

Enter the hospital through the main entrance doors. Classes will be held in meeting room number 1 which is located in the hallway to the left of the coffee kiosk. If you need assistance locating the room ask the concierge located in the lobby. Please wear comfortable clothes.

You must cancel your registration 5 days prior to the start of class in order to receive a refund. There are no refunds once the class is in session unless you deliver your baby. This class is best taken between 28 – 36 weeks of pregnancy.

Families that register for this class will typically register for Baby 101: Understanding Your Newborn, and Infant Safety.

There is a $40.00 fee for this class. 

Class will be held in the Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center - Dr. Jack Chang Conference Room located at 2001 North High St, Denver, CO 80205.

It is best to park in the parking facility at 2055 High Street and enter through the Rocky Mountain for Children. Go up the stairs to the second floor and turn right. The room will be straight ahead.

Breastfeeding Basics

This class will provide information that will create a strong foundation for successful breastfeeding. Breastfeeding Basics is designed to offer a safe setting to discuss breastfeeding education and concerns for both the breastfeeding woman and her partner. Participants will have a good understanding of milk production and general anatomy, positioning and latch, as well as collection and proper storage of breast milk. Identifying common problems such as plugged ducts, mastitis and increasing your milk supply will also be addressed. A list of community resources will be available to support you upon your return home.


This class is best taken between 30 – 36 weeks of pregnancy.

The event will be held at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center - Hummingbird Room located at 2001 High St, Denver, CO 80218.

Directions: Closest cross street: 20th Avenue and High Street. Free parking available at the hospital. It is best to park in the parking facility at 2055 High Street and enter in through the Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children which is located across the driveway. Walk in through the main entrance and the classroom can be found down the hall on the right, across from the elevators.

Please bring snacks, a water bottle, pen and paper to class.

Notification of cancellation must be received at least 7 days (not including the class date) prior to the start date of the class. If cancellation or change is requested less than 7 days (not including the class date) prior, no refund will be given. (Exceptions can be made due to early delivery of their baby or mother being in the hospital)

A good start to breastfeeding can set the stage for a more positive, rewarding experience.  The class discusses the benefits of breastfeeding, how milk is produced, feeding techniques, breast pumps and how to avoid common problems.  This class is for women only as some women are more comfortable discussing breastfeeding only in the presence of other women. There is a cost of $40.00 per person. 

If your due date or scheduled c-section is within 5 weeks, and the class is full, please call our team at 720-225-2222 to see what options are available.

The event will be held at Sky Ridge Medical Center - Garden Level Boardroom located at 10101 RidgeGate Pkwy, Lone Tree, CO 80124 , at I-25 & Lincoln.

When you arrive, please park at the main entrance to the hospital.  After entering, you may take the stairs just south of the information desk to the Garden Level Café or use the elevators.  Once in the Café please take the hallway to the right of Human Resources. This hallway leads to our Classroom, Auditorium and Administrative Boardroom.

If we need to cancel a class, we will notify you in advance. In the event of inclement weather, please call the hospital at 720-225-1000 at least one hour before the class is scheduled.

Designed for the breastfeeding woman and her partner, we provide a positive and safe setting to talk about breastfeeding concerns and its impact on the entire family. In addition to a review of the anatomy and physiology of breastfeeding (lactation), the class explores current techniques and preparations that foster successful breastfeeding. This includes learning and practicing different nursing positions, proper collection and storage of breast milk, and the latest information on breast pumps.

Each series is a comprehensive 12-hour course offered during the evening for 4 weeks. These classes focus on five aspects of the birthing process: phases of labor and delivery, comfort strategies, medical procedures, breathing and relaxation conditioning, and the postpartum period. Each series includes a variety of childbirth videos and written materials. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and interact with other class participants.

A tour of the Hospital and OB Unit will be included on the last day of each session.

Are you a smoker who is thinking about quitting, but are not quite sure you are ready?  “DARE to Prepare” is designed for you!  “DARE to Prepare” is a small group support and education program to help you learn why you smoke and help you get ready to quit.  This physician-reviewed program is based on the latest research and is facilitated by caring, trained Respiratory Care Professionals from Swedish Medical Center. “DARE to Prepare” is part of a larger program called “Smoking – DARE to quit.”  When you are ready to quit, you can continue the last two sessions to compete the full program with “DARE to be a Non-Smoker”.  Each journey begins with a single step. We are here to help you take that first step.

The cost for this class is $40.00.

Babies often have trouble adjusting during the first three months of life.  New parents will learn step-by-step how to help their baby sleep better and how to soothe even the fussiest baby in minutes.  Our class is based on the highly effective approach pioneered by Dr. Harvey Karp, author of The Happiest Baby on the Block and is taught by our certified instructor.  This class is ideal for expectant families in their last trimester and babies up to three months.

If your due date or scheduled c-section is within 5 weeks, and the class is full, please call our team at 720-225-2222 to see what options are available.

Your class will be held at Sky Ridge Medical Center in the Garden Level Auditorium. Sky Ridge is conveniently located at 10101 RidgeGate Parkway in Lone Tree, Co. 80124 at 1-25 and Lincoln. Please park at the main entrance to the hospital.  After entering, you may take the stairs just south of the Information Desk to the Garden Level Café or use the elevators. Once in the Café, please take the hallway to the right of Human Resources.  This hallway leads to our Classroom, Auditorium and Administrative Boardroom.

This will be one of the most important classes you can take as a parent. This class covers crucial information such as infant CPR and choking, childproofing your home, basic first aid and accident prevention, basic car seat safety and more. This class is also highly recommended for Grandparents and caregivers.
This class is best taken between 32 – 38 weeks. It can also be taken after the birth of your baby.

This event will be held at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center - Hummingbird Room located at 2001 North High St, Denver, CO 80205

Closest cross street: 20th Avenue and High Street. Free parking is available at the hospital. It is best to park in the parking facility at 2055 High Street and enter in through that Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children which is located across the driveway. Walk in through the main entrance and the classroom can be found down the hall on the right, across from the elevators.
 

Notification of cancellation must be received at least 7 days (not including the class date) prior to the start date of the class. During the hip and knee replacement classes, your joint replacement team will discuss:

  • Review what happen during surgery
  • Show examples of the actual componenets that may be used in your surgery
  • Talk about how to prepare for surgery
  • Discuss your surgery day, from arrival to discharge
  • Review what to expect as you recover
  • Review exercises and rehabilitation with our physical therapist and occupational therapist

The event will be held at Rose Medical Center - Orthopedic & Spine Center - Conference Room - 1st Floor located at  4600 Hale Pkwy, Denver, CO 80220.

Directions:

•    We recommend coming in at the Wolf Building entrance at 4600 Hale Parkway. Please feel free to use out complimentary valet service.
•    From the Wolf building foyer, take the hallway on your right and then go left before the bathrooms
•    Go through a glass sliding door. You are now in the Rose Orthopedic & Spine Center building
•    You’ll reach an elevator right next to the Rose Auditorium. Take this elevator to the 1st floor
•    When you exit the elevator, turn left and you will see a welcome sign and the conference room on your left.

Please join us for our Prepared Childbirth Express class. This is a six-hour, “just the facts” class intended for those who want the basics or who are unable to attend the longer series. Please note that Cesarean birth is only covered briefly and relaxation/breathing techniques are explained but there is limited time for practice. A tour of the Birth Place is not included. Please wear comfortable clothes, bring pillows, blankets, water, snacks and if you wish lunch. There will be a 30 minute break for lunch you may choose to purchase your lunch in the Sky Ridge Café.   

The event will be held at Sky Ridge Medical Center - Women’s Hospital Atrium Classroom located at 10101 Ridge Gate Pkwy, Lone Tree, CO 80124.

Please take Sky Ridge Ave. east to our free, covered parking garage. After you exit the garage, cross the street and take the stairs to the entry doors, which are adjacent to our Spine and Total Joint Center and the Evergreen Medical Office Building. Please follow the hallway into the Women’s Hospital Lobby and stop by the Information Desk to check in.

Prepared Childbirth Fast Track

The birth of your child is a special time and confidence begins here.  Our convenient weekend session will provide you with the knowledge to prepare for the choices you’ll make during your childbirth experience.  You and your partner will learn and practice life skills from our nationally certified childbirth instructors including relaxation, effective breathing, massage, positioning, stress management and coping skills.  Other subjects include the joys and challenges of pregnancy, labor and how it progresses, medical procedures, interventions, pain management and Cesarean birth.  A tour of the birth place is included with the Prepared Childbirth Fast Track course.  Please wear comfortable clothing and bring two pillows and a small blanket.  Because of the condensed nature of this class, we ask parents to bring a lunch or snacks to enjoy during the Saturday all-day session.

There is a cost of $75.00 per person or couple. Please register mother only and note support person name in the event enrollment criteria. 

If your due date or scheduled c-section is within 5 weeks, and the class is full, please call our team at 720-225-2222 to see what options are available.

Your child will learn about such topics as the emotions associated with becoming a big sister or brother, newborn appearance and behavior and special rules about new babies. He or she will also practice holding, and diapering the baby. Activities, discussions and practice are used in this session to teach children aged 3 to 7 years about their new role as siblings. Due to the flu restrictions that are in effect form November 1st to the end of April a Tour of the Birth Place will no longer be included with this class.
The fee for this class is $20.00 per family.

Please note: Protecting you and your family is our number one priority. That is why we take extra precautions during cold and flu season. Siblings may attend our hospital OB tours and are permitted to visit in Labor & Delivery as well as the Mom/Baby unit during flu season, but we kindly ask that if your little one has cold or flu symptoms that he or she rests at home. If this presents an inconvenience for your family, we will provide your child with a mask. We want to protect you, your family and all our babies. Thank you!

Your class will be held at Sky Ridge Medical Center in the Garden Level Auditorium. Sky Ridge is conveniently located at 10101 RidgeGate Parkway in Lone Tree, at I-25 and Lincoln.

When you arrive, please park at the main entrance to the hospital. After entering, you may take the stairs just south of the information desk to the Garden Level Cafe, or use the elevators. Once in the Cafe, please take the hallway to the right of Human Resources. This hallway leads to our Classroom, Auditorium and Administrative Boardroom.

Please be aware that this class meets on 2/7/2017 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, 2/14/2017 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, 2/21/2017 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, and 2/28/2017 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

Weather policy – In case of weather cancellations, the call center will notify you of cancellations and the session will be rescheduled.

Smoking is not permitted during sessions, allowing an opportunity to practice smoke-free skills prior to quit day.  Participant Notebooks are provided and need to be brought to each session.  Sessions typically begin the first Tuesday of each month and are 4 consecutive Tuesdays, but may be adjusted due to holidays. Sessions 1 & 2 prepare you for a successfully quit.  Session 3 is “Quit Day” and session 4 helps fine tune quit strategies.
 

Cancellation Policy – course fees will be refunded for cancellations more than 48 hours prior to beginning of first class. There are no refunds for missed classes.
